Creekside is Back!
"In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks." – John Muir
Hey Mamas!
It’s Back!
Wow, it’s been a long winter, and I’ve been waiting to write these words for some time…Creekside is back! This season, we’re shifting to Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays.
I could go on and on with excitement, but I’ll keep this email straightforward so it’s easy to share. I’ll be writing weekly newsletters for Creekside Camp starting in May and continuing through the 8-week session. If you’d like to subscribe, just hit the subscribe button on my Substack—that’s the only thing I write about, so no worries about extra emails.
Important Notes:
Open Invitation – You’re welcome to invite anyone, even if I don’t know them! No need to check in with me—just pass along the details.
Weekly Snacks & Coffee – Snacks for the kids and coffee for the moms will be provided.
Moms Stay On-Site – Since we explore a real creek, water safety is a priority. Some areas can get quite high, so all moms must stay on-site.
Looking forward to another great season together!

Observation and Describe:
This year, we will have little booklets for the kids to record their observations and describe what they saw. I love this target because believe it or not - this is a standard for grades pre-k through 3rd grade and can be easily scaffolded. Obviously the younger kids can draw what they observed (think butterfly, cool rocks, honeybees etc) and the parents can record while the older kids will be encouraged to use more descriptive language and adjectives when describing. Below are the targets that these booklets will hit.
Use senses (sight, touch, smell, hearing, taste) to observe objects, people, and events.
Describe basic characteristics of objects (color, shape, size, texture).
Use simple words and phrases to explain what they notice.
Ask and answer simple questions about their observations.
Mom Only Cocktail Nights
These nights are meant for us to get together sans kids (nursing babies welcomed). Dress in whatever makes you feel lovely and come for charcuterie and cocktails/mocktails!
Wednesday Evening, June 18th, 7 - 9pm
Wednesday Evening, July 16th, 7-9pm
$$
This is an entirely free backyard camp, but if you plan to attend regularly and would like a booklet for your child, I will have a suggested $15 donation to help cover the cost of booklets and snacks. I’ll share our Venmo closer to the first week, but again—this is a completely free event, and the donation is entirely optional.
Cheers to another fun year of creekside exploring, letting kids be kids, and having designated time for moms to gather!
With joy,
Margo
